abigail anne laforest
Abigail-Anne is a sustainability-focused designer whose practice is grounded in conscious creation and innovative design processes. Committed to restoring the value of craftsmanship and creativity back into the fashion industry, she approaches design as both a responsibility and a radical act of expression. Her work challenges the perception of sustainability as a limitation, instead proving that it breeds creative evolution, revelation, and innovation.

This conceptual depth and strong set of values are encapsulated in garments that are meticulously constructed by hand. Abigail-Anne reinterprets responsible practices as a foundation for textural exploration, intricate detailing, and artistic experimentation. Each design embodies a considered balance between technical precision and boundless creativity, culminating in garments that transform concept into functional, refined, wearable artworks. As a commitment to these values all her garments are made by hand in her at home studio and exclusively uses second-hand, deadstock, recycled and remnant materials.

Her designs are created to inspire self-expression, identity, and individualism, wearable art that empowers the wearer while honouring the integrity of its making. Driven by a belief that fashion can be both visionary and responsible, Abigail-Anne creates work that values process as deeply as outcome. She reimagines sustainability as a catalyst for innovation, where craftsmanship, material exploration, and imaginative thinking converge to shape a more expressive, conscious, and creatively liberated future for fashion.
my mission
The rise of fast fashion has DESTROYED the value of fashion.

Consumers have no value for clothing or the craftsmanship behind it. Australians discard the most textile waste into landfill and the average cost they spend per piece of clothing is $13 AUD (The Australian Institute, 2024).

Someone's garment that they made by hand is worth $13 to our society....there is SO MANY issues with this. Fashion is no longer a celebration of art, design, expression and individuality, it is all business, profit and propaganda.
My mission as a designer is to re-ignite love and value of fashion through:
- creating unique, creative, fun and artistic designs that inspires others

- producing quality garments that focus on detailed craftsmanship highlighting the effort it takes to produce a garment and the value it holds

- educating others on their impacts and teaching simple solutions to consume more responsibly
